Anagram (A Pun) (1997–2002)

Similar to Waterworks (1992–95) and Anagrams (1995–97), the Anagrams (A Pun) series was made from digital color prints in inkjet dyes or pigments. These images, drawn from Rauschenberg’s own photographs, were then transferred to paper with water and hand-burnishing tools. In this series, the paper was mounted onto a rigid panel and left unglazed, giving the finished works a more painterly appearance.
