Short Stories (2000–2002)

In the same transfer process that Rauschenberg employed since 1992, the Short Stories were made by transferring digital color images—made on an inkjet printer—onto polylaminate panels. Motifs drawn from nature are layered with the artist’s signature images, including trucks, telephone poles, and road signs. As if referring to a book, the titles of the works are page and paragraph numbers. Viewers are meant to engage with the imagery as they would with the words in a book or short story.
