ROCI CUBA (1988)

This series of paintings on aluminum and steel was produced for ROCI CUBA presented in Havana as part of the Rauschenberg Overseas Culture Interchange project. The exhibition spread across three venues: Museo Nacional, Casa de las Americas, and Castillo de la Fuerza. The bright paint colors in these works resemble the pre-1959 American cars that were commonly seen in Havana. The majority of the images are from Rauschenberg’s own photographs taken in Cuba.
