Airport Suite (1974)

Upon his return from working in Israel in 1974, Rauschenberg created Airport Suite, a series of relief and intaglio prints on fabric with collage elements. The edition was published by Graphicstudio, USF Institute for Research in Art, Tampa. For this edition, Graphicstudio shipped an etching press and supplies to the artist’s studio in Captiva, Florida. The proofing, editioning, sewing, and application of objects was, with few exceptions, completed at the artist’s studio. This was the first Graphicstudio project executed off campus.
