Beamer (1988)

Beamer is a small series of metal paintings—acrylic and silkscreen ink on vinyl film on enameled aluminum. As the title implies, it stems from the BMW Art Car project (1986). In this painting series, Rauschenberg reused the images from his Art Car, including reproductions of Old Masters from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, as well as his own photography. Multiple vinyl fragments applied to the metal surface result in an affichiste topography.
