The Carpetbag Theater Inc.

Appalachia

The Carpetbag Theatre is both a producing and presenting ensemble theater company rooted in the traditions and aesthetic of the African-American community. Carpetbag has been touring original works for and with disenfranchised communities for more than forty years. They have also sponsored week-long residencies with renowned artists and companies such as Will Power, Junebug Productions, Teo Castellanos, Anu Yadav, Teada Productions, Comphania Urbana de Danca, Youth Ensemble of Atlanta, Universes, Yissy and High Speed Cuban Jazz, Cultural Odyssey and many more. Carpetbag is the only National Performance Network presenter in the state of Tennessee and their presenting history is perhaps the most diverse in the region, unwaveringly highlighting the work of artists of color throughout the country.
