Galvanic Suite (1988–91)

This series of paintings, usually in acrylic and enamel, includes imagery from Rauschenberg’s black-and-white photographs silkscreened onto panels of primarily galvanized steel. Although the galvanizing process gives metal a gray tone, the Galvanic Suites are brightly colored with paint flung or applied in exuberant strokes and images silkscreened in colorful hues.
